“Burkina Faso’s Flourishing Future: Ibrahim TraorĂ© Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Mulan Double Star M2S Wheat Flour Production Plant”

President Ibrahim TraorĂ© of Burkina Faso has officially inaugurated the Mulan Double Star M2S wheat flour production plant, a state-of-the-art facility located in GampĂ©la, just 30 kilometers northeast of Ouagadougou. This modern milling facility aims to significantly boost Burkina Faso’s food security and reduce its reliance on wheat imports, contributing to the nation’s self-sufficiency in wheat flour production.

The Mulan Double Star M2S mill is designed with advanced technology and a high production capacity, processing 220 tonnes of flour and 80 tonnes of bran every day. This cutting-edge flour mill is a key step towards improving local food production capabilities and supporting Burkina Faso’s agricultural economy.

With an investment of 15 billion CFA francs (approximately $23.6 million) from the Zidnaba Group, the Mulan Double Star M2S plant represents a major milestone in Burkina Faso’s industrial development. It is set to play a crucial role in enhancing local agro-processing and reducing the country’s wheat imports, which totaled 270,300 tonnes in 2023 alone. By producing high-quality wheat flour locally, the new plant will help meet the nation’s domestic demand, saving foreign exchange and promoting economic growth.

In his inaugural speech, President TraorĂ© highlighted how the Mulan Double Star M2S mill aligns with the government’s strategic goal to foster economic growth and strengthen the agro-processing sector in Burkina Faso. This significant development will not only create jobs but also contribute to improving the nation’s food security and economic resilience.

The new plant positions Burkina Faso as a growing hub for modern flour milling and food processing in Africa. The launch of the Mulan Double Star M2S wheat flour production plant is a testament to the nation’s vision for self-reliance and sustainability in agricultural production.
